Lately I stayed in a fairly new resort just a little North of Ubud center. I knew Blue Karma Ubud through social media and already sent some friends over there before I even tried it out myself. From what I could see on the pictures it was a really cute green resort with private villas surrounded by jungle and rice fields and isn’t that exactly what you are looking for when spending your holiday in Ubud? In the beginning of November I checked in for 3 nights to experience the resort myself.
I always tell people that India is the best country for food and my stay at the ITC Maratha Mumbai was another confirmation of this. The ITC Maratha Restaurants are rated among the best restaurants in Mumbai and staying here during the Indian Monsoon Season was a great pleasure. On the bright side of the grey and rainy days I had the chance to try out the a lot of food and create my own food tour all on the ground floor of the hotel.
Why do you think people on Tripadvisor chose this as the most romantic hotel in the world 2015? No explanation needed, right? This picture says it all! As I was staying two months on the island, I was looking for the best Koh Tao hotels and I wanted to find some spots on the island that were not really well known yet to the big audience. Chekcing out some places to stay in Koh Tao I stumbled upon this incredibly luxurious boutique villa resort named ‘The Place’.
By the time I got back to Bangkok last month I was in serious need of relaxation, and I was happy to be invited at one of the coolest boutique hotels in Bangkok: the Siam at Siam Design Hotel. It is one of Bangkok’s oldest family-owned hotels and lately completely refurbished. Siam at Siam Design Hotel is a boutique hotel with a contemporary, luxurious, and unique style right in the heart of Bangkok.
Leave Phuket behind you and explore the surrounding islands. Koh Yao Yai is one of my favorite islands out there. Still untouched and a place where island life is the number one feeling. Glow Elixir is a lovely 4* resort in a tranquil bay.
After two lovely nights in the Alisea Boutique Hotel I switched hotels and checked in at the Aonang Cliff Beach Resort on the other side of the town. The hotel arranged a pick-up and at 10.30am sharp there was an air-conditioned mini van waiting outside the hotel to escort me to my new hotel.
To be honest I had never heard of the Trident chain before I checked in to the Trident Nariman Point Mumbai. The hotel is part of the Oberoi Group and therefore a high standards can be expected. I choose this hotel after roaming the internet and I stumbled upon a picture on Google Images. The room I saw had the most amazing view over Mumbai and guess where I ended up a couple weeks later, yes in the corner suite of the Trident Nariman Point.
Travelling to Singapore has never been a favourite, although I am pretty intrigued by big cities. My first visit to the country was in 2009 and after that I had never been back. The reason? It is simply too expensive! I am not rich by any means and I think it is not worth spending so much money if for the same money I am spending here in 1 day, I can live a week in the neighbouring countries.
The Layana Resort & Spa is consistently voted among the best hotels in Thailand and it was no wonder that I was really pleased and excited to spend a couple nights in this little gem. Talking to other guests we all wondered why the resort is not called a retreat. It is such a peaceful and rejuvenating place that the addition of the word retreat wouldn’t be misplaced. If you Google ‘Thailand adults only resorts’, the Layana Koh Lanta will come up first and after experiencing this top-notch luxurious retreat I can understand that this place ranks number 1 in many lists.
In June 2016 after visiting Thailnd for more than 10 times I finally made it to Koh Lanta. I was invited to come and review Crown Lanta Resort & Spa and give my opinion about their resort.
The resort is situated on the tip of a tiny peninsula in the North of the island. Tucked away from the mass tourism of the popular East side of Koh Lanta, the Crown Lanta Resort and Spa has a fabulous location.
Go off the beaten path in Thailand and check in to the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa, the number one hotel in Rayong.
Rayong is a not yet discovered region by mass tourism not far away from the immense popular beach destination Pataya. Travelling East from Bangkok never really appealed to me, but when I was invited by the Rayong Marriott I thought lets just wing it. Actually I had never heard the region. Exploring new territories in Thailand was great and after I have been to Marriott Rayong I can now say that it is totally worth it visiting this undiscovered region of Thailand.
The Shangri-La Hotel it is all about indulging yourself with pure luxury and excellent service. One of those 5* hotels that never disappoint and always live up to their image. So does the Shangri-La Singapore, voted many times amongst the best hotels in the world and it remains the destination of choice for presidents and diplomats.
A lovely luxurious retreat in Balinese style: Tugu Hotel Bali is not your standard resort, it is a very authentic and artistic place. Sleeping in Tugu Hotel Bali is like sleeping in a museum. This is my review of the best place in hip and popular Canggu.
It was my first time in Maldives and I was about to head to one of the most remote islands of the country. The moment I wanted to check in for my domestic flight to GAN Airport there came someone up to me asking if I was Mr. Grond. Please sir follow me to the lounge… I guess my dream trip just started! SO Sofitel Hua Hin is a modern and trendy beach resort where design meets the white sand in the Gulf of Thailand. A perfect retreat for hipsters and trendsetters looking to escape bustling Bangkok. It is where the SO concept is taken to the beach in Hua Hin.
Any idea what it would be like to stay in TripAdvisors best hotel in the world? I always thought that would only be possible in my dreams! But lately this dream became reality as I stayed in Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur Rajasthan.
Recently this property of Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has been voted as the ‘Best Hotel in the World’, the ‘Best Hotel in Asia’ and the ‘Best Hotel in India’ at the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2016.
During my recent trip through India I made my way to Udaipur, the city of lakes. I was invited by Taj Hotels to stay in one of their jewels: the Taj Lake Palace Udaipur. This hotel is as elegant as a building can get. Like a giant white swan floating gently in the middle of a lake this palace is not only a hotel it is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur.
I was beyond excitement for my trip to Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort as it was my first time on a private island resort. How am I going to experience being locked up on a tiny island? Do I get bored? Answering this question after being stuck on Sumilon Island for a couple days is simple: I never wanted to leave!
This recently opened Taj property has the best location if you are looking for hotels near Mumbai domestic airport. Taj Santacruz opened its doors only a couple months ago and from the terminal you can walk right into the hotel lobby. Of course everything within the hotel is designed with a touch a Taj: luxury and class! I have been working with the Taj group around India and also stayed in some of their palaces: Umaid Bhawan Palace and Taj Lake Palace Udaipur.
There are a couple hotels near Domestic Airport Mumbai, but this one is within walking distance. Within minutes after collecting your suitcase you will be in the great entrance hall checking in with the friendly staff or even better taken to the Club Lounge where the check in will be preformed and welcome drinks will be served.
Of course the service level in this new property is top notch and the Taj Group gathered a mix of newly trained staff and Taj employees from other properties to run this hotel. Since I was a little sick when I arrived I ordered some medicine and within no-time someone went to the pharmacy for me to get me something, complimentary service. I also had Club Lounge access and in Monsoon season this was the perfect place to catch up with work and try the chefs local food samples.
The super spacious room had a fantastic feature, which I had never seen before. My floor to ceiling window had runway view and every couple minutes I saw either a plane taking off or landing. The 3 layers of glass made sure the noise was reduced to a minimum. The sofa in front of this window was a great place for my plane spotting cravings. It was one of the bigger hotel rooms I experienced in hotels near Mumbai domestic airport. The bathroom had a huge bathtub plus a flatscreen tv. The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast!
There is a huge outdoor swimming pool catered to those who want to stay fit and swim some lanes. The fitness is next door and is open 24 hours and is bigger than you expect from a normal hotel gym.
I also tried out the Spa and indulged myself with a 90 minutes massage. It was my first time I was told to take a shower, enjoy the steam cabin, relax in the sauna and then come to the private massage room. The staff took great care of me and I already felt wonderful before I even enjoyed a lovely massage.
The hotel houses three restaurants and a Club Lounge. The lounge had equally stunning views over the runway as my room. Check out the Chinese restaurant China Inc with its great interior design. A meters long snake is hanging from the ceiling created by endless glass bottles.
My favourite though was Rivea Restaurant, which serves Italian and French cuisine and has a huge selection of wines and skilled sommeliers to advice you. I chose to try the 8-course sample menu and had the chance to try most of their signature dishes, a great foodie experience.
Location wise there are hardly any Mumbai airport hotels that can beat Taj Santacruz. The rooms are spacious and staff is lovely. If you are looking for hotels near domestic Airport Mumbai I can definitely recommend this Taj Group property.

Checking in to a resort was like changing office for me while travelling in Asia, definitely after I just did a city hotel tour in Singapore where I stayed in 6 different hotels in 2 weeks. I landed at Phuket International Airport and made my way to Sri Panwa where I was about to stay a couple days and it was one of those places I definitely want to go back some day… WOW!
With Singapore being one the worlds densest countries it might seem hard to get away from the bustling city. Recently I planned a trip to Singapore and was looking for a luxury hotel, but a little bit away from the city. I ended up in W Sentosa Cove on Sentosa Island.
