The thing is, I have been to both countries so many times, I kind of take it for granted sometimes.

Bangkok was the most visited city in the world before the global pandemic, yet still everyone is having doubts about the safety situation in Thailand. With so many happy tourists telling their friends about island hopping in Thailand and their jungle trekking and motorbike tours in Chiang Mai and crazy nights in Bangkok I would suggest word of mouth would do its job, right?
Well apparently there are still a lot of doubts if it is safe to travel to Thailand.
The vast majority of Thailand tourists leave the country with great memories, but on the flipside there are also some horror stories like the Koh Tao murders and disappearing people in Bangkok. So how safe is Thailand actually in 2024?
The main reason I love to travel in Asia is because it is affordable and the value for money is the best in the world. I have managed to stay on the road for 4 years without working a single day, so I can understand people keep on asking me the same question over and over again. How do you afford to travel? Then I explain them, traveling does not have to be expensive. So their next question always is: how much does a trip to Thailand cost for example…

Definitely after I just did a city hotel tour in Singapore where I stayed in all the best luxury hotels in Singapore in 2 weeks. Always wanted to know where your favourite pop idols are celebrating their holiday? I have been staying in the most amazing hotels, but for most celebrities that is just too ordinary. Apparently they rent amazing villas, secluded places where they can’t be seen and where they can do whatever they want behind closed doors. Rihanna was one those celebrities that rented Samsara Phuket and I got to stay in the exact same villa!
By the time I got back to Bangkok last month I was in serious need of relaxation, and I was happy to be invited at one of the coolest boutique hotels in Bangkok: the Siam at Siam Design Hotel. The Layana Resort & Spa is consistently voted among the best hotels in Thailand and it was no wonder that I was really pleased and excited to spend a couple nights in this little gem on my Thailand trip in 2017. Talking to other guests we all wondered why the resort is not called a retreat. It is such a peaceful and rejuvenating place that the addition of the word retreat wouldn’t be misplaced. If you Google ‘Thailand adults only resorts’, the Layana Koh Lanta will come up first and after experiencing this top-notch luxurious retreat I can understand that this place ranks number 1 in many lists. I was happy I was able to included this resort in my Thailand itinerary!
In June 2016 after visiting Thailand for more than 10 times I finally got to travel to Koh Lanta for the first time. In this review I will discuss all the things you need to know before you book the Crown Lanta Resort.

In a hidden bay in Koh Yao Yai you can find Glow Elixir, a lovely 4* resort in a tranquil bay.

Travelling East from Bangkok never really appealed to me, but when I was invited by the Rayong Marriott I thought lets just wing it. Actually I had never heard of the region. Exploring new territories in Thailand was great and after I have been to Marriott Rayong I can now say that it is totally worth visiting this undiscovered region of Thailand.

I opted for the ‘Co Combo tour’, a 5-hour bike/boat tour through the remote areas of Bangkok.
