The famous volcanic island of Santorini is known for its whitewashed villages, incredible sunsets and unique landscape. It’s a very popular honeymoon destination and definitely a place you need to visit, at least once in your life.

Are you looking for a romantic and exceptional getaway in Santorini, away from the crowds but still centrally located? The family-run Remezzo Villas in Imerovigli might be your best choice! Remezzo Santorini was the 5th. Hotel that was built in Imerovigli in 1982 and has a pool with amazing sea views. In this article, I will share 11 reasons – including photos – why I think Remezzo Hotel Santorini is a perfect place to stay.
1. Perfectly located in stunning Imerovigli between Oia and Fira
Remezzo Hotel is located on the Caldera cliff, overlooking the Aegean Sea, offering spectacular (sunset) views. The town of Imerovigli is situated between the bustling central city of Fira and the picturesque Oia. For that reason, Imerovigli is a convenient base to visit other parts of the island.
The Caldera hiking path is located right in front of Remezzo Santorini and connects Fira as well as Oia. I highly recommend to walk this path along the stunning cliffs of Santorini offering phenomenal views.
With the best all-over view of the Caldera, Imerovigli has a more relaxed and tranquil vibe; away from the touristy and crowded places, such as Oia. Especially if you’re looking for a calm getaway or a romantic and secluded place to stay, this is your place to be.
Imerovigli offers a small number of authentic restaurants, with high standards and quality, for example Anogi Restaurant that is only a 5-minute walk from Remezzo. This is a family-run restaurant with people who really love and enjoy their job and do everything to make your visit a great experience!
There are some fascinating churches to visit in Imerovigli, like the Anastasi Orthodox Church and the Panagia Theoskepasti Chapel, both offering beautiful panoramic views because they are built on the edge of the cliff.
Imerovigli is located on the highest point of the Caldera cliffs, about 300 meters above sea level. For that reason, the town is also called the ‘balcony of the Aegean’.
Other cozy and amazing traditional villages to visit close to Imerovigli are for example Pyrgos, and Megalochori.
Those villages are easily accessible by car and offer some great photo spots and great Greek food. I loved the laid-back vibe in these traditional villages very much.
2. Ultimate Hideaway with magnificent volcano and sea views
Because of its geographical location on the highest point of Santorini, Imerovigli offers magnificent views of the deep blue sparkling Aegean Sea, the volcano, and other Santorini villages like Fira, Oia and Firostefani.
The views from Remezzo Santorini are simply magical! They offer first-class views of the impressive volcano, the Aegean Sea and the caldera cliffs including amazing views of the famous Santorini sunset.
Whether you are sitting on the terrace enjoying your breakfast, watching the sunset or taking a plunge in the pool; the views will never get bored.
Remezzo offers multiple terraces and there’s enough space to sit down and just relax. Personally, I loved the moment of waking up and having my breakfast on the terrace, taking in the stunning view.
If you would like to have a clear 360° panoramic view of the entire caldera, you need to visit Skaros Rock, a popular place to visit in Imerovigli. The path leading to the rock is only a 5-minute walk from Remezzo and offers amazing views of Santorini Island from ‘a distance’.
3. Stylish and clean Master Suite
Remezzo Villas offers 25 rooms in total, varying from a studio to a honeymoon suite or a superior suite with an outdoor hot tub.
We were given the stylish Master Suite, which was very clean, large and comfortable. The suite offers a master bedroom with a queen bed and a loft with a king-sized bed.
The suite even has a third bedroom with two twin beds. The beds were perfect and slept very well.
There’s a spacious seating area with a comfy couch, some wooden games to play and a flatscreen TV.
I also loved the huge and colorful ensuite (cave)bathroom with hydro-massage bathtub.
The Master Suite is perfect for a group of friends or a family up to 6 people. The suite also has an outdoor terrace with views of the Aegean Sea.
4. All Necessary Room amenities you need
All rooms are airconditioned and have an open plan kitchenette including a NESPRESSO coffee machine and a refrigerator.
There’s a good WiFi connection inside the room. Other available amenities are a safe, hairdryer, beach and/or pool towels, slippers and free cosmetics like shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Staying at Remezzo Santorini was simply amazing.
5. Additional (Car Rental) Services
Remezzo Santorini offers a lot of property facilities and services, such as concierge services, transfer services, car and motorbike rental services, room service, baby-sitting service, boat tours, flower arrangement, massage service and ironing- and laundry service.
They helped us for example arranging a rental car from Motor-inn, which is a reliable car rental company in Santorini. Remezzo gets in touch with Motor-inn and they will come to the hotel to fill in some paperwork after which they will guide you to your car and explain how everything works. Simple as that!
We also used the car to drive back to the harbor when we left and a staff member of Motor-inn collected the car there, but you can also simply leave your car at the parking near Remezzo and leave your key at the reception desk of Remezzo. I had a very good experience and I would highly recommend Motor-inn for your car rental in Santorini.
6. Amazing Hospitality with a relaxed vibe
Not only because of the stunning views and suites, but also because of Remezzo’s amazing hospitality, I had a great 4-night experience at Remezzo Santorini. I was impressed by the personal service and the warmth and friendliness of Antigone (Andi), Christina, Vassilis and the rest of the team.
On arrival, Vassilis took his time to really get to know us and gave several restaurant recommendations and other helpful information about things to do in Santorini. Antigone welcomed us every morning during breakfast with her sparkling smile and good mood. Having a staff who really enjoy their job and do everything to make your stay as memorable as possible is amazing and turns your stay into a great experience.
Remezzo’s hospitality and relaxed vibe must be one of the reasons why they have been one of the best original family-run hotels in Santorini for over 35 years!
7. Lovely breakfast with a view
Even if you’re not a morning person or if you don’t like breakfast at all, Remezzo’s breakfast will boost your day.
From 08.30 they serve a daily changing 4-course breakfast at your table on the terrace with beautiful views of the caldera. There’s no better way to wake up with a delicious outdoor breakfast and the smell and views of the Aegean Sea.
You start with bread, jams and cakes, followed by 3 sweet and/or savory courses, like for example yoghurt with cereals and fresh fruit, Greek loukomades (‘Greek donuts’ with honey and walnuts) or a veggie stuffed omelet.
All courses and dishes were equally delicious and during COVID-19, they were very accurate in taking all necessary measures.
8. High-Speed WiFi connection
Nowadays, it’s extremely important for people to have a fast, secure and reliable WiFi connection. Remezzo’s high-speed Internet is free of charge and available in all areas. There are several hotspots to make sure your connection is stable. I haven’t got any problems at all.
9. Relaxing pool to cool off during hot summer days
Beaches in Santorini are mostly rocky, overcrowded and small. For that reason, it is very pleasant to have a hotel with a pool.
Remezzo Hotel Santorini offers a medium sized pool with comfortable sun beds and a couple of seats. There’s enough space for everyone and with such amazing views, it’s a very tranquil place to come to rest.
10. Fast and easy contactless web check-in
Instead of filling in a long paper guest form at a front desk, Remezzo hotel offers a quick and easy online check-in. You only need your booking reference to complete your check-in and it’s even possible to complete it prior to your arrival.
Especially during COVID-19, this contactless check-in offers a great value. Upon arrival, you will receive a real personal welcome, instead of completing paperwork first. Something that makes me happy.
11. Remezzo’s spectacular Sunset Views
One of the things, Santorini is most famous for is the stunning sunset. Most people try to find a spot in Oia to see the golden glow on the white-washed houses and watch the sun set in the sea.
It’s something you have to experience at least once in your life, but it’s also the most touristy part of Santorini with lots of crowds, especially in the summer months.
If you’re looking for an equally beautiful spot to watch the sunset, but more peaceful and quieter; stay at Remezzo Hotel Santorini, order a tasty local wine and enjoy the sunset that sets near the volcano in the sparkling blue Aegean Sea.
