Location Hotel Morgana
Hotel Morgana is in downtown Playa del Carmen and the central location is a big plus. The beach and the hustle and bustle on 5th avenue can be reached within a short walk. Although it is close to 5th avenue the hotel itself is away from the crowded streets. The ferry to Cozumel is a 5 minute taxi ride aways as well as the ADO bus station.
It is also worthwhile mentioning that the great central location in the center of Riviera Maya is ideal and its top attractions are also within easy reach. The proximity to these locations makes it easy to plan day trips from Hotel Morgana and make the hotel a great home base. Great recommendations are for example: touring on a scooter in Cozumel or the Pink Lake in Rio Lagartos.

Rooms Hotel Morgana
Hotel Morgana wants to offer each guest a custom-made experience. They offer 20 unique rooms and you can find Mexican tradition and art around the hotel. During my stay I enjoyed my time in the Courtyard room.
This room is on the ground floor and offers sufficient square meters but I struggled at times to find space to unpack my luggage which made me experience the room as rather small. I was surprised though that the room offers a very nice terrace with an own personal jacuzzi which allows you to relax after a day full of activities and this terrace compensated for sure for the struggles with my luggage space.
If you are looking for a boutique hotel and rooms with a modern and minimal design with a great value for your money, hotel Morgana is a great choice.

Bar
At the 4th floor you will find the bar, the home of Toby who can be recognized by his own English accent who reminded me of a mix of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger “Hasta La Vista, baby”. Toby is the mixologist of Hotel Morgana, who makes the perfect cocktail for every guest. The hotel offers every guest a free welcome drink and in the bar they offer numerous options where you can easily get lost among the many bottles that are stored there.
I recommend you discuss your preferences with Tony and he will make you something special. There are several seats on the terrace and the green planted wall gives you a cozy feeling. While the sun was setting down it was the perfect moment for me to try one of Toby’s creations.
I was very happy to learn that the Hotel is focused on environment awareness as the bar offers straws made of avocado seeds. Other environment focused things they have in place are for example power and water saving program, replacing plastic with natural materials and use as much as organic and local cleaning products. It looks like the hotel takes it responsibility in a sustainable environment which makes me even happier to stay at their place.
Pool
Moving up a level to the 5th floor you will find a small saltwater pool where you can refresh yourself from the hot temperatures. You can work on your tan from the morning till the afternoon and if you want to escape the sun you can hide in the shaded area with beach chairs. They also offer an outdoor shower.
Restaurant
At the top floor the restaurant Consuela is located. In this restaurant you can enjoy Mexican cuisine, a good burger and breakfast. Prices are very reasonable and less then majority of restaurants on 5th avenue. The rooftop offers a view to the ocean and in the far distance you maybe even can catch a glimpse of Cozumel.
Breakfast was included during my stay and there were many options to choose from, they also offered to pack my breakfast in a take-away box as I was in rush to the pickup point for my day tour to Tulum, Coba and Maya Village.

In the end I would surely recommend you to stay at Boutique Hotel Morgana Playa del Carmen as it has a lot to offer against reasonable prices and I would visit it again if I am looking for boutique hotel in a central location in Playa del Carmen, close to top attractions in the Riviera Maya.
