There are so many luxury hotels in Bangkok that prices are very competitive and staying in one of those fantastic places won’t be as expensive as you might think. I could have easily made a list op top ten hotels in Bangkok, but I chose to write about the 4 places I recently stayed at. To me the best areas to stay in Bangkok are Silom and Sukhumvit. I

I always tell people that India is the best country for food and my stay at the ITC Maratha Mumbai was another confirmation of this. The ITC Maratha Restaurants are rated among the best restaurants in Mumbai and staying here during the Indian Monsoon Season was a great pleasure. On the bright side of the grey and rainy days I had the chance to try out the a lot of food and create my own food tour all on the ground floor of the hotel.

Lately I stayed in a fairly new resort just a little North of Ubud center. I knew Blue Karma Ubud through social media and already sent some friends over there before I even tried it out myself. From what I could see on the pictures it was a really cute green resort with private villas surrounded by jungle and rice fields and isn’t that exactly what you are looking for when spending your holiday in Ubud? My second trip to Jordan didn’t quite go as planned as 5 days became 3 weeks. Only for the good, because I had an amazing time exploring Jordan and spending quality time visiting Amman with all its cool things to do. I don't often experience a hotel that touches me so much that I still think back to it two weeks after departure. A hotel that exceeded all expectations in every way possible. A hotel that was simply a wonderful place that, once you've checked in, you simply never want to check out ever again.

Hotel Der Bär in Ellmau, Tirol is exactly such hotel. We checked in to Hotel Der Bär without any expectations and were completely surprised and overwhelmed by this special hotel.

It was a kind of a last minute plan to add Hotel Jen Tanglin to my Hotel Tour in Singapore. My flights were flexible and I had two more nights available and so did I end up in the little brother of the Shangri-La Singapore where I stayed as well.

After two lovely nights in the Alisea Boutique Hotel in Ao Nang I switched hotels and checked in at the Aonang Cliff Beach Resort on the other side of the town. The hotel arranged a pick-up and at 10.30am sharp there was an air-conditioned mini van waiting outside the hotel to escort me to my new Ao Nang hotel.

After 7 years I decided to go back to the picturesque town of Ao Nang in the Krabi province in Thailand. I remembered the lively streets, the Krabi beaches, the lovely boulevard and the amazing food culture and was eager to go back. On top of that finding a place to stay ended in 5-night collaboration with the Alisea Boutique Hotel and the Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort.

To be honest I had never heard of the Trident chain before I checked in to the Trident Nariman Point Mumbai. The hotel is part of the Oberoi Group and therefore a high standards can be expected. I choose this hotel after roaming the internet and I stumbled upon a picture on Google Images. The room I saw had the most amazing view over Mumbai and guess where I ended up a couple weeks later, yes in the corner suite of the Trident Nariman Point.

Travelling to Singapore has never been a favourite, although I am pretty intrigued by big cities. My first visit to the country was in 2009 and after that I had never been back. The reason? It is simply too expensive! I am not rich by any means and I think it is not worth spending so much money if for the same money I am spending here in 1 day, I can live a week in the neighbouring countries.

Staying at Kandima Maldives marked already the 10^th luxury resort in Maldives I visited. Many people think that all resorts are the same, but that is totally wrong. Kandima only opened its doors to guests less than a year ago so is brand new and is the Kandima concept is completely different than most other resorts, I will explain you why.

My second resort after a week in the Maldives with Maldives TV was one away from the North Male Atoll. About 60 kilometers East of the capital there is a little Atoll called Rasdhoo and coincidentally I had already been there last year on my first visit to Maldives. Rasdhoo itself though is a local island and in 2016 I took a local boat to live like a local in Maldives. This time I traveled to an island next to it: Kuramathi Island Resort.

The Layana Resort & Spa is consistently voted among the best hotels in Thailand and it was no wonder that I was really pleased and excited to spend a couple nights in this little gem on my Thailand trip in 2017. Talking to other guests we all wondered why the resort is not called a retreat. It is such a peaceful and rejuvenating place that the addition of the word retreat wouldn’t be misplaced. If you Google ‘Thailand adults only resorts’, the Layana Koh Lanta will come up first and after experiencing this top-notch luxurious retreat I can understand that this place ranks number 1 in many lists. I was happy I was able to included this resort in my Thailand itinerary!

My most recent Canada trip also brought me to the vibrant city of Montreal. Searching for Montreal accommodation for my travels, for me it’s important that my hotel is located on a prime location in the city I visit. This lead me to Le Centre Sheraton in Montreal Downtown. With their newly renovated Club Rooms and its location right in the middle of downtown, this had to be my place to stay.

Any idea what it would be like to stay in TripAdvisors best hotel in the world? I always thought that would only be possible in my dreams! But lately this dream became reality as I stayed in Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur Rajasthan. Recently this property of Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has been voted as the ‘Best Hotel in the World’, the ‘Best Hotel in Asia’ and the ‘Best Hotel in India’ at the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2016. Am I really staying here for the next two nights?

Best Villas In Maldives With Private Pools

It was sad saying goodbye at the Lux South Ari Atoll but there was not a lot of time to deal with that as a new adventure was waiting. I landed back again on Hulhumale Island and made my way to the Anantara private lounge. Unlike 99% of the resorts Anantara does not have a little booth where you have to present yourself, Anantara has a little private lounge for its guests to relax after their mostly exhausting flight. It did only take a couple minutes though before my speedboat transfer was ready for departure. Naladhu Private Island is part of the Anantara Hotel Group and is one of those Maldives hotels with speedboat transfer. The boat ride took only about 40 minutes and there was the team of Naladhu waiting for my arrival.

Go off the beaten path when traveling in Thailand and check in to the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa, the number one hotel in Rayong. Rayong is a not yet discovered region by mass tourism not far away from the immense popular beach destination Pataya. Travelling East from Bangkok never really appealed to me, but when I was invited by the Rayong Marriott I thought lets just wing it. Actually I had never heard of the region. The Sofitel So Bangkok only opened in 2012. A fashionable and trendy hotel, located at the beginning of Sathorn Road in front of Lumpini Park, Bangkok’s largest green area. So Sofitel is all about art and style; chic but playful. It was the famous French designer Christian Lacroix who designed the hotel’s interior, the staff uniforms and the executive lounge. On my trip to Thailand in 2017 I had the privilege of staying there and write a Sofitel So Bangkok review. 

During my recent trip to India I made my way to Udaipur, the city of lakes. I was invited by Taj Hotels to stay in one of their jewels: the Taj Lake Palace Udaipur. This hotel is as elegant as a building can get. Like a giant white swan floating gently in the middle of a lake this palace is not only a hotel it is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur.

I was beyond excitement for my trip to Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort as it was my first time on a private island resort. How am I going to experience being locked up on a tiny island? Do I get bored? Answering this question after being stuck on Sumilon Island for a couple days is simple: I never wanted to leave!

My first visit to Washington DC was three years ago, on a day trip from New York City. Back then I thought it was my only chance visiting the capital of the USA, so I didn’t wanna miss it. Looking back at it now, such organized day trips, with limited time for yourself to explore, it’s not my thing at all.

This recently opened Taj property has the best location if you are looking for hotels near Mumbai domestic airport. Taj Santacruz opened its doors only a couple months ago and from the terminal you can walk right into the hotel lobby. Of course everything within the hotel is designed with a touch a Taj: luxury and class! I have been working with the Taj group around India and also stayed in some of their palaces: Umaid Bhawan Palace and Taj Lake Palace Udaipur.

Recently I spent about two months in and around Bali and stumbled upon an surprisingly quiet oasis called The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah. I have been visiting Ubud many times, but never heard about this resort before, but I am happy I got invited to stay at this beautiful place lately as part of my 'honeymoon in Bali'.

My hotel tour in Singapore was not yet complete and I stayed in so many amazing places in this city that I couldn’t believe I was adding another chapter to this great trip. I had never stayed at an Intercontinental Hotel before and I was happy to finally spend some nights in the flagship brand of the IHG Hotels in Singapore. Checking in to a resort was like changing office for me while travelling in Asia. Definitely after I just did a city hotel tour in Singapore where I stayed in all the best luxury hotels in Singapore in 2 weeks. I landed at Phuket International Airport and made my way to Sri Panwa where I was about to stay a couple days and it was one of those places I definitely want to go back some day… WOW!

Why do you think people on Tripadvisor chose this as the most romantic hotel in the world 2015? No explanation needed, right? This picture above says it all! I was looking for the best Koh Tao hotels and I wanted to find some spots on the island that were not really well known to the big audience. At least that is what I thought. But winning a Tripadvisor award made me think I was too late. Still The Place Koh Tao is not a mass tourism destination and II was happy I got the chance to review this Koh Tao Boutique hotel. 

Being invited to a conference in the Maldives was to me like winning the jackpot. Yes I want to come speak at your event in paradise but don’t expect me to fly home straight after. I requested my flight out of Maldives 2 weeks later as I wanted to make the most of this trip and stay as long as I could. When people asked me how long I would stay I answered as long as I get free accommodation! ;)

With Singapore being one the worlds densest countries it might seem hard to get away from the bustling city. Recently I planned a trip to this city and was looking for the best places to stay in Singapore, but a little bit away from the city. I ended up in W Sentosa Cove on Sentosa Island.
