Forget about the best places to visit in Europe, those are way too crowded! The standard holiday destinations in Europe are overrun by tourists between June and September and therefore I urge you to go off the beaten path in Europe. Here is my list of unique places to visit in Europe for 2023.
Traveling to the Dolomites? Don’t miss out on the fairy tale lake of the Dolomites: Lago di Carezza or the Karersee, how it is actually called in this German speaking region of Italy: South Tyrol. This is a must-do in the Dolomites, the rainbow lake that you have seen many times on Instagram with the iconic and majestic backdrop of the mighty peaks of the Latemar Mountain Range.
Here is a complete guide to visit Lago di Carezza with: how to get there, best time to visit, hiking trails, the legend, storm Vaia, the facilities, parking space, where to stay and much more.
I have said it before, travelling the Dolomites and South Tyrol in particular, it often feels like you’re travelling through Austria. It’s the mountains combined with the traditional alpine chalets, and red geraniums hanging from the balconies.
Arriving at Hotel Winkler Sport & Spa Resort we were slightly confused. It was again a classic alpine chalet we arrived at. We had checked the hotel online, and photos showed a very luxurious and modern hotel. Walking up to the entrance of the hotel, we honestly thought we were at the wrong Winkler Hotel. But then, walking through the entrance it’s like going through a time machine, from traditional alpine to extremely modern and luxurious. Absolutely fantastic!
First world problems because of Corona: where to travel this summer? But for real guys… don’t forget to be grateful for having a European passport that makes it possible to travel around the world so easily in the first place. Lockdown? Don’t forget to some people are forever in a ‘lockdown’ simply because their passport makes it impossible to travel!
Our first world problems aren’t really a problem, it is just an issue!
Rooftop pools with views over the Dolomites, chirping birds as my wake up call and a brand new hotel were the ingredients that lured me to a little village up in the hills in Bolzano, South Tyrol. The next coming nights I was staying in Hotel Saltus in San Genesio, a new eco friendly luxury hotel.
Some of my friends were telling me for a couple years now to visit San Genesio. So when this summer I was on a road trip in the Dolomites I figured I could finally see what the fuzz was about. While staying at Hotel Saltus I found the relaxing time that I craved so much after my already 2 week road trip in the Dolomites.
My summer trips to the Alps had never been this luxurious, but Hotel Chalet Mirabell made me realize that the serenity of the mountains and the luxury of a beautiful chalet are together combined the ultimate ingredients to make me smile from the moment I wake up until I fall asleep.
Happy as a kid when I walked in, very sad to leave, but a fabulous experience, one I won’t quickly forget about. Staying in Hotel Chalet Mirabell in Merano, South Tyrol was a dream coming true.
