review airhub esims

eSIM technology is on the rise and it will be the next and upcoming standard for mobile data consumption offering total freedom from physical prepaid sim cards. Following that trend at Traveltomtom we stumbled upon Airhub eSIMs. Airhub has created a global technology marketplace to buy and sell mobile services.

At Traveltomtom we love putting eSIM providers to the test and next in row was Airhub. Read below our honest review and our experiences using Airhub eSIMs.

Airhub wants to find the best roaming options for travelers and with that avoid stress and inconvenience caused by being disconnected. Every traveler knows it can be a difficult situation full of challenges when you arrive at a new destination and not have a data connection on your phone.

Think of WiFi availability, buying regular prepaid SIM cards or ending up with huge roaming bills that make a hole in your pocket. Airhub's goal is to take away any stress and pain and provide easy and smooth connectivity anywhere with their eSIMs.

200 MB Free

Let's start with an amazing feature of Airhub! The first 200 MB is free.

The great thing about Airhub is that you can test their eSIMs for free before you actually purchase an eSIM package. For many destinations they offer an eSIM plan that gives you 200 MB data for free. A great way to get to know Airhub and the possibilities.

If, after the free 200 MB, you think Airhub is the best eSIM for you, you can still purchase a larger eSIM package via the Airhub app or website.

If you are traveling to one specific country, you can search for packages for a certain destination. But if you are traveling for a longer period of time through a particular part of the world, for example Europe, there are also regional or global packages that may suit you more.

You can choose to use Airhub via their website or their app. Here is a link to order your Airhub eSIM.

Marketplace for eSIMs

Airhub truly is a marketplace for eSIMs, just like SimOptions. Most eSIM providers only sell eSIM plans from one brand with different packages. Airhub is different and you can buy eSIMs from multiple brands.

SimOptions has a similar concept of being a marketplace for eSIMs, at SimOptions the choice is much more limited than Airhub, but at SimOptions it is easier to read the eSIM packages in one overview.

For packages details on Airhub you have to click on the eSIM first. If you do so, you get all the essential info presented very well, including which mobile operator is used per country and much more info.

So for example for USA you can buy eSIMs from Airhub itself, but also from Vodafone, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc. When we look closer at the USA, we see that Airhub offers more than 30 different eSIMs for the USA.

Traveltomtom ranked Airhub as one of the best eSIMs for the USA as well as the best eSIM for Canada.

Yes, that is great as with more choice there is a higher chance to find the perfect eSIM for your trip. To make it even easier on the Airhub website you can easily sort all eSIMs by: cheapest, best price/GB, largest GB, longest validity.

Disadvantage is that this can lead to a mountain of information and can be received as overwhelming and hard to make a choice on which eSIM to buy.

Subscription plan

Airhub not only has prepaid eSIMs, but also subscription plans. At the moment these monthly plans are only available for 8 countries and regions: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Spain, Europe and Global.

Customer service

airhub esim costumer support tickets

Airhub does not have live chat, neither on their website nor in their app. As a customer I find that very unfortunate. You can send Airhub a message, but getting an answer to your question takes considerably longer than with other eSIM providers. Most eSIM providers offer a Live Chat, which is unfortunately not available at Airhub. So there is definitely still room for improvement at Airhub when it comes to costumer service.

Comparison

The fact that you can get a free eSIM with 200 MB is of course an absolute plus. Not every eSIM providers offers this, so this is where Airhub stands out. They offer a fairly large amount of eSIM plans per destination. Besides the free eSIM, the cheapest eSIM at Airhub starts at $4 USD. You will then receive 4 GB of data for 30 days!

Compared to other eSIM providers, this really is a top offer price-wise. Most eSIM providers offer only a 1 GB data eSIM plan valid for just 7 days for that price or even more.

The cheapest Airhub plans get you more value for your money than other eSIM providers. They also offer quite a few plans with unlimited voice included. Something that you don't see often either. Many eSIM providers focus on data-only eSIMs.

From our own experience we can conclude that Airhub absolutely offers competitive plans and prices and is not inferior to some other well-known and large eSIM providers.

What's next?

airhub esim 4

According to the Airhub website, some great things are coming.

Something that we have seen before with other providers and which will soon also be available with Airhub are the cruise plans and also family plans.

If you need or are interested in this, keep an eye on the Airhub website.

Airhub App

For buying an eSIM via Airhub it is not mandatory to download the app as you can simply buy an eSIM on the Airhub website and even check out as a guest.

But Airhub also has an app. When you download the Airhub app you immediately have to create an account to proceed. Once you have entered all your details to create an account, you receive a verification code in your email. You need to enter this in the app to verify and confirm your account. Once this is done you proceed to the Airhub app and have full access to all features.

The Airhub app is one of the most comprehensive eSIM apps we have seen so far. Even with the many options in the app, it remains clear and user-friendly. That's definitely a bonus. They've done a good job of that at Airhub.

The app offers you all the options you can think of. You can easily purchase new eSIM packages via the app. The FAQ is described in detail and you can even log tickets if you encounter any problems.

airhub my esims

Once you have purchased an eSIM, you will find it in the 'My eSIM' section and you will immediately have insight into how you are doing with your eSIM.

If you leave the app via the back button, you will automatically log out. That is not desirable from a user point of view. At Traveltomtom we tested the Airhub app and bought an eSIM plan to test it out. It's a super easy process and the app is very supportive. You can search all their destinations and plans in the app.

Our honest opinion

airhub esim 5

Airhub has already been around in the eSIM market since 2020 and are definitely a serious provider to consider when picking your eSIM for your next adventure abroad.

Their app is very easy to use. Certainly the most comprehensive eSIM app we have seen so far. A valuable addition to Airhub services.

It is a pity that there is not really a decent customer service available. There is no live chat or chatbot where you can ask questions and get a quick answer. You can contact them via a contact form, but experience shows that receiving answers takes quite a while. So there is definitely still room for improvement.

In terms of eSIM plans and prices, they are absolutely competitive with many other providers. We even believe that they are the better party in terms of price-quality ratio on certain packages.
